Perhaps everyone - even those who are not particularly interested in mixology or travel to Asia - at least once heard about the Singapore Sling cocktail and considers it almost the main asset of the city-state of the same name. However, in reality, this is far from all that Singapore can offer even the most sophisticated travelers. Here you will be surprised to find yourself in the critically acclaimed bar capital of Asia, which today confidently conquers the top lines of international ratings. Drinks made from rare ingredients according to the author's recipes of winners of prestigious awards, whole mixology festivals, views of the city from a height of 282 meters, rare whiskeys or cocktails for lunch - here everyone will find entertainment to their liking. Below is a selection of the best bars to remember or map to if you are visiting Singapore.

28 HK Street

Until recently, they sold mainly dried fish on Hongkong Street. Today, here you can find the best establishments in the city and even two Michelin-starred restaurants. 28 HK Street is one of the main attraction points in the area. Opened five years ago, the bar is now considered to be one of the best not only in Singapore, but also beyond its borders. It has earned its impeccable reputation thanks to the professionalism of the bartenders and the amazing quality of the cocktail ingredients: the ice is chopped by hand, and the mint is used exclusively organic. The original recipes of local drinks are also noteworthy. Take Coppertone, an exotic take on the classic Old Fashioned with a rum-based tropical Pina Colada character. Coconut oil, pineapple syrups and five spices for it are processed in a special sealed centrifuge, which makes them completely transparent. Therefore, by ordering Coppertone, you will not even think about the level of technical skill required to create it.

Three times a year, the 28 HK Street cocktail menu is replenished with 25 new items. Every day, the bar guests will find a relaxed atmosphere, excellent service and tasteful music.

Operation dagger

The commitment to originality of the founders of Operation Dagger - one of the 50 best bars in the world - is evident from the very doorstep. The interior of the establishment resembles a pharmacy in a bomb shelter, illuminated by a composition of many bulbs, inspired by the work of photographer Jeff Wall, and each bottle is labeled with a secret pictogram. Unusual, isn't it?

Operation Dagger's surprises don't end there, however. One of the options on the bar's menu suggests that the bartender himself chooses which cocktail to prepare for you. And first you will be offered something fresh, then - a drink with a stronger taste, and to top it off - a kind of dessert. In general, everything is like in a good restaurant! Well, if you're lucky, you can appreciate one of the main hits of the bar - the magnificent Fallen Fruit. The delicacy of natural fruit and berry wines, vanilla and the indispensable curry leaf in Indian cuisine is set off by citric and tartaric acids. The cocktail is served in a pear-shaped ceramic glass with a vanilla pod instead of a tube.

Bitters & love

At the head of Bitters & Love is Naz Arjuna, winner of numerous international awards and one of the best mixology masters in Asia. A small (60 seats) room in an industrial style with retro accents and a cozy veranda of the bar invite you to enjoy unhurried cocktails with your loved ones. Fortunately, the institution offers an extensive menu of branded drinks, which is updated every three months. Each creation of the local bartenders is based on the preferences of the visitor and is prepared with the best seasonal products and, of course, first-class spirits. And if you feel hungry during the evening, you can satisfy your hunger at Bitters & Love with gourmet snacks, fresh oyster dishes or an appetizing pie with onions, bacon and arugula.

Smoke & Mirrors

Smoke & Mirrors is a trendy bar located in the heart of the city, on the rooftop of one of the country's main cultural centers - the National Gallery of Singapore. From here, breathtaking views of the Padang and Marina Bay areas are well worth a visit. The interior of the establishment is decorated with an unusual shape of a mirrored bar counter, which at the same time separates the internal and external spaces of the bar and forms a single architectural solution of the room.

In addition to the spectacular setting, Smoke & Mirrors offers guests an excellent cocktail list, drawn up by the head bartender Jugnes Susela. His signature creations are divided into three categories - High & Mighty, Subtle & Gentle and Refined & Renewed - and will meet the needs of even the most demanding lovers of sophisticated mixology masterpieces.

B28

Located on the basement floor of the design hotel The Club (the B in its name stands for basement), Bar B28 specializes in whiskey. The B28 menu will impress even the most advanced aficionados of this grateful alcoholic beverage. The venue offers an impressive collection of over 200 rare cask-strength single malt Scotch whiskeys, 30 rums from a wide variety of regions, and a wide selection of signature cocktails, crafted from Prohibition Era recipes using the highest quality ingredients by a professional bar mixologist.

Ce la vi

Ce La Vi is a truly iconic rooftop bar and restaurant at the legendary Marina Bay Sands. Undoubtedly, one of its main distinguishing features is the incredible views of the city that open from anywhere in the bar and literally transport visitors to another dimension. However, the premium location is not all that Ce La Vi has to offer true lovers of good cocktails. Breathtaking panoramas of Singapore serve as the backdrop for the main event - the creativity of a professional team of bartenders, who daily create real works of art of mixology for guests. In addition to the world cocktail classics, organically combined with the Asian flavor of the institution, here you can taste culinary masterpieces made with unsurpassed skill.

1 Altitude

Perched atop One Raffles Place, 282 meters above the ground, 1 Altitude is widely regarded as the world's tallest open-air bar. It is also widely regarded as one of the finest rooftop establishments in Singapore. Here you can enjoy, for example, the classic Singapore Sling or the local signature Zen Breeze cocktail, made up of vodka, green tea, lemongrass and mint. Guests will also enjoy evening live performances and incendiary DJ sets. And all this is against the background of a magnificent panorama of the city, which is separated from the bar space only by a transparent glass fence.

Manhattan

Manhattan transports the visitor into a golden era of cocktails and premium alcohol culture, and recreates the atmosphere of turn-of-the-century Manhattan. The establishment resembles the bars that worked at that time in the best city hotels of the Big Apple: trendy and modern, at the same time, it is not devoid of the gloss and sophistication of old New York. Ranked # 11 in the World's 50 Best Bars, Manhattan offers a rich menu of handcrafted spirits, classic cocktails and old-fashioned drinks from the world's best hotel bars using in-house ingredients.

The hallmark of the establishment is cocktail brunches, which are held here on Sundays. On them you can not only refresh yourself with various delicacies - oysters, lobster, branded bagels with soft cheese or grilled dishes - but also pair wine, beer or cocktails with your meal.

Gibson

Gibson Bar opened in September 2015 and quickly gained the sympathy of locals and visitors alike. Six months after its opening, it was already ranked 22nd in the ranking of the 50 best bars in Asia, and in 2016 it was recognized as the best new establishment in Singapore.

Decorated in vintage style, it offers a bold Gibson World Collaboration Menu of five signature cocktails. It was the result of the joint creative efforts of 15 great masters of their craft from all over the world: the best bartenders, famous chefs, brewers and even tattoo artists. Each of their creations is truly unique and can move the heart of any fan of high-quality and unusual cocktails.

VLV

Located in the famous Singapore RiverFront, VLV combines tradition with vibrant modern style. It is a true oasis for world-class culinary and entertainment lovers. Here you will find a trendy Chinese restaurant, lounge club and bar with stunning river views and the perfect location to enjoy warm Singaporean evenings with a cocktail and a plate of the freshest seafood.
