Description of the attraction

The famous City Garden, which is so famous for its roses, has found its place in the very central part of Alytus. Sal began to be planted with trees starting in the thirties of the twentieth century. A fountain with a small pool, built in the twentieth time, has survived to this day. It was here that beautiful lilies once bloomed and goldfish swam. Near the fountain, you can see the European yew, which is especially rare in all of Lithuania, and in spring, the white Japanese magnolia, which blooms so brightly near the pre-war fountain, delights the eyes. In total, the City Garden has more than 16 species of a wide variety of trees and shrubs.

The famous City Garden smoothly turns into the Resort Park, and the common area that connects these two famous and popular places is called the Angel of Liberty Square. On this square there is a monument to the "Angel of Freedom", which was originally planned to be erected back in 1928 - at the time when the 10th anniversary of Lithuania's independence was celebrated. The author of this sculpture is the Lithuanian sculptor Anatanas Aleksandravičius. After being struck by lightning in 1934, the sculpture crashed, but was restored again in 1991.

The spa park was created in 1931 in a natural pine forest. There are many beautiful walking paths in the park, which are moderately decorated with sculptures of various shapes and sizes, and lead to the famous Daylide Lake, which has long been formed in the old bed of the Nemunas River. There are fountains in the Daylide Lake in the summer season, and not far from them a beach with wooden bridges has been created and equipped. In addition, there is a beautiful boat dock and a life buoy.

Throughout the park, there is the famous Health Trail, which runs along a railway embankment, created in the 19th century. The health trail is the most beloved and popular destination not only for cyclists, but also for hikers.

The secret paths of the Spa Park lead directly to the Valley of Songs. Now at this place, as well as more than a hundred years ago, a festival of songs and dances is always held. During the celebration of the 400th anniversary of the Magdeburg rights of the city of Alytus, which has been celebrated since 1981, a sculpture of poses called "Lily Flower" was created on a previously existing railway embankment, erected by the famous sculptor Vladas Kančiauskas.

From the embankment in the valley one can see an amazing view of the Alytus castle mound, which rises on the other side of the Nemunas.
