The exotic country of Morocco is well known to Russian travelers. People come here for a special Arabian flavor, favorably emphasized by the comfort of comfortable hotels, a dignified attitude of quite civilized locals and wonderful cuisine, each dish of which deserves a place on the cover of a gourmet guide. Moreover, Russian travelers have discovered a beach vacation in Morocco on the Atlantic coast and enjoy the vast ocean expanses with pleasure, lying on the pure Moroccan sand.

Where to go to sunbathe?

The main resorts of Morocco are concentrated on the ocean coast:

  • Snow-white Agadir plays the first violin in this beach constellation. It looks quite European and offers its guests a lot of active entertainment - from golf to horse riding. The main features of Agadir are thalasso centers and a great wave for surfers.
  • The ancient fortress of Essueira is not the only attraction of the Moroccan resort, located 170 km north of Agadir. Its beaches are especially beloved by surfers and romantics, and the magnificent combination of the white walls of local houses and their ultramarine windows has long become a hallmark of the city, as well as the bright blue fishing boats intertwined with nets in the port.

But the city of Tangier can boast of the fact that it is washed immediately by the Atlantic and the Strait of Gibraltar, which connects the ocean with the Mediterranean Sea.

Weather features of a beach holiday in Morocco

The cold ocean current does not allow the sweltering heat to hang over the Agadir beaches even at the height of summer. A stable swimming season starts in the White City at the end of May, when the water and air warm up to a steady + 20 ° С and + 25 ° С, respectively. In the morning, strong winds are frequent on the beaches, which not only bring a pleasant coolness, but can also contribute to sunburn! The sun is very active at these latitudes.

It is a little cooler on the beaches of Essueira: firstly, it is located much to the north, and secondly, strong winds prevail here due to the fact that the city is spread over an oceanic promontory. At the height of summer, the air warms up to + 27 ° С, but the water rarely gets warmer than + 22 ° С, and therefore this resort is not very suitable for families with children. But the reviews of surfers about the weather in Essaouira are always only positive.

The climatic conditions in Tangier are considered the most favorable for a beach holiday in Morocco. It is very warm here in summer, but the heat is not a concern due to the fresh winds from the Atlantic. The water on Tangier beaches is much warmer, and even kids will feel comfortable swimming at a temperature of + 25 ° C in July-August. The beach season lasts from mid-May to the first half of November.

Ride the wave

If you are looking for where to get active in Morocco, choose the coast of Essaouira. Here you can wander for hours on the sandy beach, photographing surfers, or rent a board yourself and take a chance … Moreover, experienced instructors will teach you how to take the first steps in this exciting sport.

When going on excursions in the surroundings, do not forget to bring your camera: you cannot take photos of goats grazing on argan trees anywhere else in the world. Fans of Hendrix's music will be able to walk the same narrow streets as the famous guitarist, and perhaps understand where he got his inspiration from when he lived in Essaouira. Shopaholics will satisfy their passion in full in colorful shops where everything is sold - from belts embroidered with shards of mirrors to leather bags inlaid with camel bone plates.

When choosing tours to Essaouira, do not forget about the magnificent Moroccan cuisine that flourishes in the port restaurants. Fresh fish with lemon, cooked on charcoal or in clay tagine, will be the perfect end to a busy day on one of the best beaches in Morocco.

Charm of the White City

In the photo of tourists from Agadir, the main attraction is the Atlantic. Its cool waves crash against a wide strip of many kilometers of sandy beach, which has room for one and all:

  • A lazy beach vacation in Morocco on the ocean can be successfully combined with water sports.
  • The rental points on the Agadir coast offer surfing equipment and water scooters, catamarans and yachts.
  • Open ocean fishing and shark watching are organized on local vessels.
  • Horses and camels willingly ride everyone in the surrounding desert.
  • Young people will not be able to get bored on vacation in Agadir even at night. Clubs and discos at the most famous hotels demonstrate the skills of famous DJs and the excellent quality of musical equipment.

Prices for hotels in the resort will suit most tourists: there are also quite decent "three-ruble notes" with a pool and good breakfasts, and worthy "four" with a more significant range of services and amenities.

There are no special attractions in Agadir, so it was practically rebuilt after the devastating earthquake of 1960, but from here you can always go on educational excursions to Marrakech, Casablanca, Fez and other imperial cities of Morocco.

Homeland of the Tangerines

Small and juicy tangerines are named after the Moroccan city of Tangier and are present here in large numbers, not only in markets or in restaurant desserts. Tangerine trees grow everywhere and grace the city, home to one of the world's longest beach lines. The sandy strip stretches from Cape Spartel for almost fifty kilometers, and it is here that it is customary to sunbathe and swim. Within the city, the beaches are not too clean and very crowded.

You can give up on a beach holiday in Morocco for just a couple of days if you choose Tangier as your destination and take the ferry from Tarifa. Ships leave the Spanish coast from 9 am until late evening, and their passengers spend about an hour and a half on the road.
