Description of the attraction

In the village of Minkino, Murmansk Region, in the fall of September 13, 2008, a church dedicated to the Holy Great Martyr Barbara was consecrated. The consecration ceremony was conducted by Archbishop Simon, with Alexander Boldovsky becoming the first rector. Especially interesting is the fact that the G20 community is still not there. The initiator of the creation and construction of the church was Vladimir Blinsky, a Murmansk businessman, who financed the establishment of the church, which was coordinated with the spiritual care of Vladyka Simon.

The historical development of this settlement is also very interesting. At the end of the 19th century, fishing artels were working along the coast of the Kola Bay, so one of the successful fishermen Minkin decided to set up a small settlement in this place, which was named after him. Throughout 1889, Minkin worked in this beautiful place together with 10 fishermen. In the 1920s, the artel grew so much that the number of fishermen reached 30 people. During the years of Soviet power, when private property was liquidated, a collective farm was formed on the site of the artel, which was soon named "Drummer". As soon as Soviet power collapsed in the 1990s, the collective farm also ceased to exist. Soon after that, professional people came here, who turned "Udarnik" into a successful enterprise, which had its own owner. It was Vladimir Blinsky, who acquired the enterprise, becoming its zealous manager. He was engaged not only in a profitable business, but also in useful, charitable causes. It is known that Vladimir Blinsky made a vow to build a temple in this place. But the first church built by the entrepreneur was the church in the village of Murmashi, during the construction of which preparations were underway for the construction of the temple in Minkino.

It is worth noting that the number of believers in our days has not decreased in comparison with Soviet times. The believers in the village had to travel great distances to get to Murmansk or Kola, to visit the temple and pray, cleansing their souls of sinful deeds in a sacred Orthodox church. But in the harsh winter days, in essence, the usual business of going to church was equated with a heroic deed. Most people even cried with emotion and joy in the process of consecrating the new temple. According to the residents, with the appearance of a church in the village, God himself descended to the people.

According to the blessing of Vladyka, it was decided to consecrate the church in the name of the Great Martyr Barbara. From the life you can learn that for a long time Barbara was a hostage of a high tower, and for her release she had to renounce Christianity. Barbara escaped from prison and dedicated her life as a martyr in honor of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Today, the Church of the Holy Great Martyr Barbara has almost everything you need to perform all types of services: the church iconostasis, painted by masters from Murmansk, Konstantin Moroz and Mikhail Gusarov, a bell tower with bells, the ringing of which can be heard even in Murmansk.

At the moment, a community gathering is underway in the church, which includes people who want to devote their lives to serving in the temple. It is safe to say that the first pages of the history of the formation of the church have already been turned over. Further, it will only be for the residents of the small village of Minkino.
