Description of the attraction
The memorial temple in honor of All Saints and in memory of the innocent murdered (All Saints Church) is a unique Orthodox church, which at the same time is a monument to all Belarusians who died during the Great Patriotic War. The first stone of the foundation was consecrated by His Holiness Patriarch Alexy II of Moscow and All Russia on June 4, 1991.
The construction of the temple began in 1996. It was then that a commemorative capsule with a letter was laid for posterity. The ceremony of laying the capsule was attended by the President of the Republic of Belarus A. G. Lukashenko and Metropolitan of Minsk and Slutsk Filaret.
The church became a spiritual memorial in honor of 10 million people who died in wars, repressions, revolutions and forced migrations of Belarusians. In the lower part of the temple (crypt), the earth was laid, collected from all the battlefields, where the citizens of the country died. Memorial plates are installed along the entire perimeter of the church, the names of the victims are woven into the ornament that adorns the church. Outstanding figures of Belarus are reburied here. An unquenchable lamp is burning in the crypt.
In 2006, the bells were consecrated and installed on the belfry and the main dome of the temple. The ceremony was attended by prominent figures of the country and representatives of the highest clergy, including the President of the Republic of Belarus A. G. Lukashenko, His Holiness Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Alexy II and Metropolitan of Minsk and Slutsk Filaret.
The church is striking in its splendor. It is decorated with unique iconostases made by Palekh masters, carved wooden panels, utensils and handmade decorations.
The church is hipped-roofed and topped with five golden domes. The height of the church is 72 meters. It can accommodate 1200 worshipers at a time. This is one of the tallest and most spacious Orthodox churches.
