Description of the attraction

Monument to P. P. Ershov and fairy-tale heroes - one of the most interesting sights of Tobolsk. The monument is located in the upland part of the city, in close proximity to the Tobolsk Kremlin. The ceremonial opening of the monument took place in 2008 during the improvement of the square for the 420th anniversary of the city of Tobolsk.

The project of the monument to the native of Tobolsk, the writer-storyteller P. P. Ershov and his heroes were designed by the Russian folk artist Mikhail Vladimirovich Pereyaslavets. The writer-storyteller holds the feather of a firebird in his hands, and next to him is the famous and beloved Little Humpbacked Horse. Also, at the feet of the storyteller, you can see the Whale Fish, on the back of which there is a model of the Tobolsk Kremlin.

Many local residents are sure that the fairy tale took place in their hometown. If you give free rein to fantasy, you can really believe in it. The many hills on which Tobolsk stands are in fact very reminiscent of the back of a sea monster.

In addition to this sculpture, the tsar, Ivan the Fool, the Firebird and the Little Humpbacked Horse are quite realistically depicted in the city square. The largest sculpture in size is the fountain, made in the form of a huge whale. A bridge is laid across it, passing through which you can admire the square from a small elevation. The park itself has comfortable benches among the trees and a cozy cafe.
