Description of the attraction

The church in honor of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God in the city of Kalinkovichi is a modern Belarusian church. It was built in 1993.

In 1990, the first foundation stone ceremony took place. It was decided to erect this temple in memory of the fallen heroes-internationalists who fought in Afghanistan. The temple was built on voluntary donations. Most of the construction was carried out by the parishioners themselves, mostly by the guys who fought in Afghanistan.

On November 4, 1993, the ceremony of illuminating the new church in Kalinkovichi was held by Bishop Aristarkh of Gomel and Zhlobin and Bishop of Turov and Mozyr Peter.

All church utensils and interior decoration of the church were purchased or made by the church's parishioners by their own hands.

A high bell tower was built near the temple and 12 bells were installed. People come to the Kazan Church in Kalinkovichi to listen to the bell ringing. Here lives and works the famous all over the country bell ringer, laureate of the competition of bell ringers held within the framework of the “Slavianski Bazaar” in 2003 and 2004 in Vitebsk, Georgy Sudas. Novice bell-ringers come to Kalinkovichi not only from Belarus, but also from neighboring Orthodox countries.

In the summer of 2001, the Kazan Church in Kalinkovichi hosted the II International Festival of Bell Art "The Feast of Ringing", which was attended by many eminent guests and tourists.

In the church there are Orthodox shrines: the icon of the righteous John of Kormiansky, with a particle of his relics; an icon of St. Theodosius of the Caucasus, with a particle of his relics; the icon of the Monk Martyr Eustratius, with a particle of his relics; an icon of the Holy Schema-nun Alexandra, with a particle of her relics.
