The war memorial is located in one of the administrative districts of Yongsan-gu, Seoul, Yongsan-dong. The memorial was opened in 1994 and is located in the former army headquarters building.

The exposition of the memorial museum is dedicated to the military history of South Korea. There are 6 exhibition halls in the building, in addition, there are outdoor expositions.
