Description of the attraction

The famous factory of vintage wines and cognacs "Koktebel" is one of the brightest sights of the Crimea, whose products are widely known and are in great demand both in Ukraine and abroad.

The cultivation of grapes and winemaking in the Otuz Valley has been practiced since ancient times; local wines were famous back in the days of Medieval Russia and the Khazar Kaganate. After the annexation of Crimea to the Russian Empire, viticulture and winemaking in the local area began to develop rapidly. By the end of the 19th century. there have already been several large wine-making economies of Green, Yuriev and others. Thanks to the diligence of Count Vorontsov, and then Prince Golitsyn, they were eventually brought to the industrial level.

After the formation of Soviet power in Crimea, a state farm and several small wine-growing artels were organized in the Koktebel Valley. In 1930 they were united into two collective farms located in the Upper and Lower Otuzes. During the Great Patriotic War, the Koktebel winery was completely destroyed. At the end of the war, it was restored and a large united collective farm "Koktebel" was created.

Over time, it was decided to move to a new production level, and in 1958 the construction of the largest winery in Crimea began. Since the scale of construction was large, Moscow metro workers were invited to carry out underground work. The lower storage is represented by 8 sixty-meter tunnels cutting into the mountain, they are connected by a ninety-meter gallery. The upper storage facility consists of 5 tunnels, but their length is several times longer.

Today the factory of vintage wines and cognacs "Koktebel" specializes in the production of excellent strong, dry and dessert wines, as well as classic vintage cognacs. All of them, due to the local soil and climatic conditions, have original taste.

The assortment of wines and cognacs is very diverse, but the most famous of them are Cabernet Koktebel, Madera Koktebel, Aligote Koktebel, White Koktebel Port, Red Koktebel Port, Karadag, Stary Nectar, Muscat Koktebel and 7-year-old Koktebel cognac.
